CHAPTER ONE
SOUTH BEACH-NOVEMBER 1993

THE LONG WHITE LINCOLN LIMOUSINE pulled to the front of Paölo Da Volterra’s magical estate, Ithaca, at the tip of South Beach off Ocean Drive.

The 24 year-old stunningly handsome Prince D'Arcy de Montebello and his French bodyguard, Erik Cayét, watched in awe as they pulled to the legendary Italian villa. It looked much larger and grander than the pictures D’Arcy had seen in magazines.

A handsome Spanish valet, Carlos Salvatori, opened the door and welcomed him.

"Good afternoon, Your Royal Highness, welcome to Ithaca," he said warmly and bowed gracefully.

"Bonjour," D’Arcy said, pleased to be there.

Prince D’Arcy took in the palatial estate and tropical island within an island. He couldn't wait to see his cousin, Jake, and meet the famous Paölo Da Volterra. He wondered what The White Party would be like and looked forward to all the exciting events planned for the week ahead.

Then Carlos led D’Arcy to a large private suite on the second floor of the opened-aired terrazzo overlooking the beautiful mosaic pool and the ocean beyond. The room was opulent by even his standards and D'Arcy had been in some of the most magnificent homes and estates in Europe and America. There was a certain tranquility about the estate, and especially his room. He thought he was dreaming. Jake, (his gorgeous first cousin and the Marlboro Man) sure knew how to live, he smiled to himself.

His bodyguard was assigned an adjourning suite and would be at the handsome young prince’s beck and call. Security was necessary when traveling abroad and D’Arcy wished most of the time that he didn’t have to have security monitoring his every move. Monsieur Cayét had been part of the de Montebello family’s security detail for almost a decade. He had known D’Arcy since he was fourteen and it definitely was going to be a new experience to see him in his new world.....The forty-five year old Monsieur Cayét loved D’Arcy as if he were one of his own sons. He would do anything for him, even take a bullet for him.....
